A flagship Joule's tap; the Joule's name returned to the town of the original Joule's brewery. A new and very large canal-side pub furnished to Joule's usual high standard with lots of knick-knacks to admire as well as portraits of the Joules family. Lots and lots of wood panelling including some from the Yorkshire craftsman Robert (Mouseman) Thompson. Children (and adults !) may enjoy searching for the carved-in mice. The Crown Wharf pub is part of a huge development by Joule's on the site including a heritage centre for the town and a theatre. The pub includes features representing all of the pubs belonging to Joulesincluding a replica of the famous Coopers Tavern, in Burton, across the yard.

New build

A new, enormous canalside pub in Joule's home town taking inspiration from historic canal warehouse architecture. It is a robust building, built of traditional brick, and making much use of reclaimed materials and fittings. The large central hall continues the warehouse theme, with smaller, more intimate spaces opening off it to ensure there is also a pubby feel. An impressive staircase leads up to a first-floor function room and to a theatre. There is extensive wood panelling, including some from renowned craftsman Robert (Mouseman) Thompson and you can search for his carved mice. The whole is furnished to a high standard with lots of knick-knacks and portraits of the Joules family. The excellent, striking development includes a heritage centre and a meeting space in a building that is a replica of the Coopers Tavern in Burton and adds considerably to the canalside buzz of the town. It was a worthy winner of CAMRA's design awards in 2021. There are real ales and meals.
